Feed forward weight control is an area which can greatly improve a mill’s profitability. Every mill is concerned about sheet uniformity and machine efficiency and reliability, which drive the bottom line. Yet despite these ever present concerns, with a fresh approach to feed forward control, a mill can optimize production, while, at the same time, control fiber use and energy consumption. By integrating key machine variables from wet-end instrumentation to dry-end quality sensors using advanced MD control algorithms to perform predictive machine direction profiling, while using an integrated CD control , a mill can significantly improve quality, production and efficiency, which, in turn, boosts profitability.
