This talk will make you rethink the accuracy of your paper machine performance numbers. Numbers can reflect many varying outcomes based on how the calculations are performed. No matter how you calculate your numbers the right reliability tools will increase overall performance using only deviations from hours available to run in a year’s time. Applying the reliability learning tool will uncover the barriers to long steady productivity runs, allowing real performance using real numbers.
Paper machine performance has a direct relationship with the reliability of the total sum of its components. The paper machine is a system much like an automobile, if there is no fuel the auto will not function. If the battery is dead the auto will not function, and if the plugs are fouled the auto may possibly function but not at the desired performance level. Unless all the sum of its parts is synchronous the performance will suffer.
