Paper and board are environmentally attractive because they are recyclable and are based on sustainable resources. Their environmental attractiveness has recently elevated the positive perceptions of the paper industry. However, the environmental impact of paper and board goes well beyond the cellulosic fibers. The source and nature of the chemicals used in making paper and board are also vital in determining the impact on the environment.
