Abnormal Wear of Floor of Composite Tube Recovery Boiler, 2010 TAPPI PEERS Conference


ABSTRACT – recovery boiler floor tubes present preferential corrosion in the zone within 2 feet from the curve . Close observation of the wear on the studs provided indications about the cause. A new design for studs in this particular area plus specification of physical characteristics for the refractory to be applied in this zone led to a field test that confirms that partial or total replacement of floor can be avoided with implementation of the components specifically designed to address this problem.
