Recovery Boiler Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) often experience difficult process conditions, resulting in high emissions. Depending on the root cause, ESP performance can be improved by addressing poor inlet conditions to the ESP, such as poor salt cake properties, and/or by upgrading the mechanical and electrical precipitator equipment. This paper will discuss various solutions to improve ESP performance, and will discuss actual field results.
