Coat drying is one of the most energy-intensive operations in the production process of coated paper and board grades. Although the quality of the end product remains the most critical factor for paper makers, the energy efficiency of the coating process plays a determining roll in the cost per ton of paper produced. In this paper, we focus on the potential of reducing energy costs by optimizing the drying process.
