Due to widespread health care related infections, antimicrobial coating of textiles gains great importance. N-halamines are one of the most effective biocidal compounds applied to inactivate a broad spectrum of microorganisms in relatively short contact times.1, 2 The inactivation mechanism involves transfer of the oxidative halogen to the microbial cell membrane.3 Once all of the halogen on the surface is consumed, it can be regenerated simply by exposure to a halogen source such as household bleach (Figure 1).
