Increasingly, pulp and paper mills are confronted with environmental concerns and ever stricter regulations concerning water consumption and effluents. Not to speak of the higher costs generated by these new regulations. Standard water treatment systems such as flotation cells, disc filters or clarifiers do not generally produce the desired water quality which would allow a mill to easily replace fresh water in the process. This equipment often also lack flexibility to adjust to problems which occur in the production process and which influence the quality of the water to be treated.
