Many paper machine efficiency problems originate in the press section and are caused by high open draw and press roll picking. High open draw and press roll picking often result in poor sheet release, sheet breaks and quality issues such as dirt and holes in the sheet. Due to these issues, press rolls are often the number one speed-limiting factor on high-speed paper machines.
