Bioremediation is an efficient method for treating pulp and paper wastewaters. Essential to successful bioremediation is that microorganisms have the specific bioavailable nutrients they need. Phosphorus, a key macronutrient for microorganisms, is typically not sufficiently available in pulp and paper wastewater and must be supplemented. Because poorly performing wastewater treatment systems can become a significant factor in pulp and paper mill profitability, delivering bioavailable microorganism nutrition can have a significant impact on mill efficiency and profitability.
