The Green Bay Packaging (GBP) mill located in Morrilton, Arkansas, recently evaluated a chip penetration aid in its batch digesters with the goal of alleviating the tendency for the evaporators in the kraft recovery cycle to approach maximum black liquor processing capacity and to create risk for business interruption, via the penetrant’s ability to increase digester cooking yield with a reduced dependency on white liquor alkali.
