Oil palm empty fruitbunch (EFB) was evaluated as a raw material for papermaking pulpproduction. The EFB was chopped, screened and washed prior to cooking using the soda andsoda-AQ processes. Bleaching trials were carried out using both ECF and TCF bleachingsequences. Bleached EFB pulps were tested for physical properties. Comparisons are madebetween the properties of the bleached EFB pulp and bleached kraft eucalyptus pulp. The EFBbleached pulps were acceptable for papermaking.
