Turn and Face the Strange…, Paper360º July/August 2016
“…ch-ch-changes,” sings David Bowie in his iconic song. In 2016, as we’re bombarded by change from every front— technological, social, political, personal—it’s easy to believe that change has never affected humans more than it does right here and now. Yet Bowie recorded “Changes” in 1971, and those who found the song fresh and relevant 45 years ago felt that they were living in the time of greatest-ever change. Of course, both generations are correct. With the past fixed and the future unknown, the present is always the crucible of change.
