Predictive Analytics, Dynamic Suction Roll/Yankee Nip Monitoring and Innovative Cover Venting Deliver Significant Energy Savings and Improved Efficiency on Modern Tissue Machines, PaperCon 2016
Today’s tissue and towel producers are facing unprecedented challenges to remain globally competitive. The ever increasing demands for higher sheet quality, tensile strength, and sheet bulk are also concurrent with expectations for reduced energy consumption, increased overall machine efficiency and lower cost-per-ton. This paper describes a totally unique approach to help the tissue maker solve the complex optimization process for machine clothing and roll covers. It will describe why it is crucial to build a customized dewatering solution with the ideal clothing and roll technology. It will introduce a new proprietary machine simulation system which uses sophisticated predictive analysis coupled with real-time monitoring to provide the operator innovative decision-making tools to significantly enhance machine performance while minimizing downtime and cost-per-ton. This paper will show case studies where the predictive analytics and nip monitoring technology were used on Yankee suction roll applications to diagnose chronic roll crown issues and documented energy savings. In addition, case studies with specially designed roll venting depicts how tissue makers achieved enhanced water removal to further reduce energy costs.
