Reducing Fresh Water Usage – Disc Filter Saveall Optimization, PaperCon 2016
A large majority of paper mills utilize a disc filter saveall to reclaim solids and provide a clear filtrate source for stock preparation. Some disc filter saveall machines provide a ‘super clear’ filtrate of exceptional quality good enough to replace fresh water. However, over time the maintenance and optimization of a disc filter saveall may lapse resulting in a switch to fresh water because the ‘super clear’ is no longer clear. Using additional fresh water is not friendly to either the environment or the bottom line. Through new technology an optimized disc filter saveall can operate trouble free for many years all the while providing a reliable ‘super clear’ filtrate as a cost-effective replacement to fresh water.
