Non-Destructive Determination of Key Pulp & Paper Process Parameters, PaperCon 2016


Many important pulp and paper process parameters can be monitored using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, which is a useful non-destructive, in-line process analysis technique. This talk will present a range of process parameters that can be monitored by NIR including Kappa number, hardwood/softwood content, and residual lignin in wood pulp. NIR is an effective tool for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. When used for process control NIR provides faster analysis and lower production costs.
