Best Practices for Operator Essential Care and Equipment Inspections a Significant savings Opportunity - Optimize your Preventive Maintenance, 2016 Pulping, Engineering, Environmental, Recycling, Sustainability (PEERS) Conference Proceedings
Here I use the following definition on preventive maintenance (PM):
“All activities done to prevent failures from occurring and to find a failure before it develops to a breakdown”. Activities include: lubrication, cleaning, operating practices, fixed time maintenance, balancing, alignment, filtration, basic inspections and predictive technologies”.
To correct a failure found during inspection enables the corrective action to be planned and scheduled. This work is here not part of PM, it falls in the category of corrective maintenance. (CM)
