Achieving Chemical Cost Savings at a Paper and Pulp Mill by Implementing Advanced Control for Bleach Plant, 2016 Pulping, Engineering, Environmental, Recycling, Sustainability (PEERS) Conference Proceedings
In recent decades, pulp and paper mills have started implementing advanced controls for bleach plants. The aim is to achieve the final brightness target with reduction in variability and utilization of the chemicals in the most cost-effective manner. This paper describes an application where adaptive feedforward and adaptive model-based predictive process controllers were implemented at a pulp and paper mill in North America. This paper describes the control strategy and estimated benefits, which could be achieved with the help of advanced process control.
