Disclosed Modeling Package: Tool for Molecular Architecture Serving LD Coating Application, 2017 European PLACE Conference

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) has been considered as major material for packaging application, especially extrusion coating which the high melt-strength and toughness are required. A key of those superior properties come from the unique structure and topology of the LDPE that can be tailored for specific applications. SCG Chemicals Co., Ltd, which has operated the LDPE plant with autoclave technology, has developed and customized the LDPE resins for many years serving global customers. The approach of our successive development is based on the fundamental research from the reaction kinetic in the reactor to the polymer microstructure and rheological behaviour via several mathematic models. Here, the development approach with the studied case will be presented for experience sharing with people in the field.
