It’s not unusual to hear praise for the achievements of veteran workers; often, these workers are provided with prestigious awards and their accomplishments are noted in respected places and publications. Of course, such successes have typically taken many years to attain and the recognition is well deserved. Yet identifying and appreciating the undertakings and activities of the younger generation is a less commonplace occurrence—though they, too, may merit attention.

For this reason, the TAPPI Young Professionals Division created an award specifically intended to acknowledge the diligence, resourcefulness, and contributions of our industry’s younger workforce. The Top Outstanding Young Professionals Award recognizes emerg-ing leaders in the paper, packaging, and related industries. The Top Outstanding Young Professionals for 2017 are:
