Nanocellulose Morphologies Control Through Drying Process, 2017 NANO

In recent years, research on sustainable eco-friendly bio-based nanomaterials such as cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) have received considerable and widespread global attention. A major setback for using these bio-based materials in development of high value applications such as food industry, aerospace, automotive, coatings, electronics, and biomedical is caused by their limited morphology after drying process. This paper reports different innovative and facile techniques for drying nanocellulosic materials and generate different morphologies without affecting their chemical structures. The emerging technology from this investigation can significantly improve higher substitution of CNC and CNF in various high-end applications development.
