Faster fibrillating lyocell, a novel fiber for wet-laid nonwoven applications, PaperCon2017

A newly developed fiber type based on lyocell (Lenzing brand name TENCEL®) is presented showing much faster fibrillation in comparison to the standard Lyocell type. Beside the faster fibrillation microscope images indicate different sheet structures of hand sheets made of the two different lyocell fiber types leading to the theory that the newly developed fiber type shows faster and different fibrillation behavior which could be interesting for the development of specialty paper types.

TAPPI conference proceedings and presentations, technical papers, and publication articles provide technical and management data and solutions on topics covering the Pulp, Paper, Tissue, Corrugated Packaging, Flexible Packaging, Nanotechnology and Converting Industries.
