ProLab is an advanced laboratory based refiner that closely replicates the action of commercial mill‐scale refiners as opposed to the valley beater. The refiner was used to generate lab refining curves to evaluate the change in fiber bonding.  The effect of process variables, like pH and temperature, were evaluated. The effect of enzymes on the strength development and drainage of recycled fibers was also evaluated.
