Brown Stock Washing Experiences – Lessons Learned, 2017PEERS
One of my favorite sayings is “Good judgement comes from experience, experience comes from bad judgement” (Will Rogers). This is an opportunity to share some “experiences” and for you to exercise better judgement benefiting from others bad judgement. There are a number of observations regarding brown stock washing that will be discussed in three main areas: 1) experiences with washer efficiency models and their limits 2) washing loss characterization, and the importance of a project team understanding and using common test methods 3) energy balances around vacuum washer systems, heat losses, consequences of closing the system, and potential solutions to control temperature in the first stage.
