In tissue production, a primary goal is to produce a sheet with the target characteristics or properties demanded by the customer, in a cost effective manner. When targets are met, it is most important to know what process conditions led to that success, so we can repeat it. When process upsets or variability occur, we need to know what led up to the problem. To repeat success, or learn from problems and strive for continuous improvement, we use data.
