When Accidents Don’t Happen, Paper360º November/December 2018
Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
For Pulp and Paper Safety Association (PPSA) members, that axiom still holds true today—perhaps even more so. The need for safety is as vital in pulp and paper mills as it is in corrugated and converting plants, and in tissue mills; while the end products may vary, the importance of safety never does.
That’s why PPSA participated for the first time recently in TAPPI’s Corrugated Week 2018, and why the CorrWeek Program Committee added (also for the first time) a Safety Panel discussion to the schedule. Safety, regardless of the items produced, is essential to the well-being of employees and to the company itself. As famed British chemical safety expert and author Dr. Trevor Kletz noted, “There’s an old saying that if you think safety is expensive, try an accident.” Not only are incidents and injuries potentially expensive, they can result in damage to our plants and our most priceless resource: our people.
TAPPI conference proceedings and presentations, technical papers, and publication articles provide technical and management data and solutions on topics covering the Pulp, Paper, Tissue, Corrugated Packaging, Flexible Packaging, Nanotechnology and Converting Industries.
