By operating equipment that is consistently being improved such as a hydraulic headbox, along with utilizing proven technology like a breast roll shake and investing in the latest technology such as variable hydrofoils, gives for the papermaker additional tool and freedom for improvement for more efficient papermaking. There is an especially high demand for improved formation / strength on board and packaging machines and we will present the results from our latest installations.
The wide operating window of the latest generation of hydraulic headboxes makes it is easy to operate and maintain with optimal formations results. The breast roll shake achieves an optimized alignment of fibers resulting in higher strength values or reduced basis weight. The latest installations show, once again, that the shake is now well established in packaging grades and is fast becoming a required.
The performance of Fourdrinier sections can be improved by replacing hydrofoils by foils allowing an optimal adjustment on the run. Thus the flexibility of papermaking can be significantly increased. The individual foil adjustment in the wire section not only influences the effectiveness regarding dewatering and paper properties like e.g. formation and strength but also has a crucial impact on the operating window and also the overall efficiency of the process. A special edge deckle separates the different fiber qualities directly after the headbox before couching with other layers. The unique design of this edge trim avoids any fiber build up and is safe and easy to operate during wire change.
Operating the latest generation of forming-fabrics together with ceramic guide-rolls ensures lowest operating costs with minimum maintenance and completes the forming portfolio. Case studies of recent installations will show the results and the benefits.
