Papermakers are usually trying to get every ounce of production from their machines to improve the bottom line. This paper takes a scientific, theoretical approach to compare the benefits and risks of increased heating of the wet end of the machine.  A heat and mass balance of a typical machine is used to model heat lost while chemical reaction and corrosion rates are used to weigh the liabilities with increased temperatures.
