INTEGRATION OF MACHINE VISION WITH PAPER MACHINE CONTROLS, 18PaperCon
Vision Control, a new advanced image processing technology from IVS converts paper machine video to process control variables. This technology has been successfully applied to detection of a wide range of paper machine parameters such as coater deckle, wet-stack deckle, cockle, trim squirt position, slitter trim, press release point, and wet line position. The technology provides real-time output to machine controls including current values, trends, FFT frequencies and magnitudes, and custom values/measures requested by the mill.
The technology takes video from the sheet break system or from standalone cameras and analyzes it to extract information about the process. This technology is capable of extracting information invisible to the human eye, e.g. MD variability of the paper web. The analysis results are sent to the mill controls via OPC or by other means requested by the mill.
