The purpose of CD optimization should be more than pursuing numerical minimum of the measured paper quality variation. By introducing CD actuator penalties in the optimization, the control will apply constraints to CD actuator moves and coordinate moves of a multiple number of CD profilers to achieve various targets required by production process. In this paper, we will illustrate this through mill examples by using actuator deviation penalty.
