A NEW CD ACTUATOR MAPPING REPRESENTATION AND ITS BENEFITS TO CD CONTROLS, 18PaperCon
After several decades of development on CD control applications, today’s CD actuators in the papermaking industrytypically have much narrower zone widths and zone responses. The total number of actuator zones for each CDcontrol application is noticeably increased. As a result of these advancements, the mapping relationship betweenactuator zones and measured sheet property profiles becomes ever more crucial to CD control performance. Anymapping mismatch or variations either globally or locally can cause significant degradation of CD controlperformance. In this paper, a new mapping representation that uses actuator zone width in physical units (cm, inch)as a reference for illustrating mapping variations is presented. The benefits of this representation for modeling andtroubleshooting CD actuator mapping issues are also discussed.
