Comparing Advanced Process Control Techniques For Control Of Chlorine Dioxide Plants In The Pulp And Paper Industry, 2018 PEERS
In the Pulp and Paper Industry, a comparison of the various advanced process control techniques for control of chlorine dioxide plants is useful to aide in making the right choice. This paper compares several techniques of advanced control and their respective strengths and weaknesses when applied to control of chlorine dioxide plants and attempts to postulates the ideal configuration of the control system. A review of the control techniques is conducted by introducing the underlying mechanism of the control system and showing how the system is applied to a process. The benefits and drawbacks of the system are then explored. The review suggested that the ideal control system consists of a PID network to interface with the final control elements and an advanced process control system that incorporates inferential control, feedforward control, and decoupling strategies.
