Pulp and paper facilities face a number of issues when dealing with corrosion and harsh chemicals. The conventional method of addressing these issues is to reach out to in house plant personnel that have first-hand experience with materials that work well for the different services needed. However, plants are suffering from a shortage of subject matter experts and facilities are scrambling to address issues of proper material selection and application in order to keep facilities operational. More often than not, these concerns are very much present today in the pulp and paper industry. This paper will address the issues that these facilities face when dealing with severe chemical exposure and protection; with respect to pulping and bleaching processes.
