SetPoint: Automatic for the People, Paper360º March/April 2019
It is always a pleasure to hear from readers responding to what they’ve read in Paper360°. My favorite response to the January/February issue came from reader Cliff Lewis, who recently retired after a long career with Sappi North America. In part, Cliff writes:“
Twenty-three years ago I remember reading… that if we could break down the complex sugars in wood, this could create new opportunities. We are now at the molecular level beginning to realize we can make almost anything out of wood that is currently made from petroleum… The future of forestry is alive and well! We’ll always need paper products, but as the future unfolds we’ll see an amazing shift in the breakdown of cellulose and lignin.”
