Over the years, we have seen that the demand for new technologies for the headboxes has been incremented with the aim of keeping an improvement in the manufacture of paper, especially with reference to the cross-direction basis weight profile and the paper formation.
One of the most revolutionary technologies was the development of dilution system, which consists of adding white water to the main flow of the headbox, in a specific point to correct a peak of basis weight variation, without deforming the top lip and consequently not affecting the fiber orientation.
Additionally to that revolutionary development, a flow distribution system inside the headbox has been developed to increase the activity and uniformity of the flow through a system with two-diffusor concept, where one was focused on increasing the activity/turbulence inside the headbox and the other one focused on delivering an uniform flow through the Installation of lamellas between the rows of the diffuser to avoid the re-flocculation of the flow in this area, thus avoiding the so-called "tiger strips ".
With all that technology mentioned above, we achieve to improve the physical properties of the paper, thus adapting the new demands of the papermaking market for different applications.
