Although it is one of Europe’s leading graphic paper producers (1.6 million metric tpy), The Navigator Paper Company, based in Portugal, realized a few years back that diversity was needed if it was to continue to be a competitive force in the market.
Not surprisingly, about five years ago it opted to enter the tissue sector. Speaking at the Tissue World event in Milan in 2019, executive director Nuno Santos, who heads Navigator’s tissue business, said that although the company was growing market share in the P&W sector, it had to ask: What’s next?
