Creping blade wear modelling: a statistical approach based on process data analysis, 2021 TAPPICon Live (21TAPL)
The wear mechanics of the creping blade are of critical importance in determining the productivity of the tissue machine, the quality of tissue produced, and the service life of the Yankee. Fortunately, the key drivers of blade wear are within the control of tissue machine operators and managers, presenting significant scope for optimization. In this paper we investigate the relationship between blade wear and the process conditions under which the blades were used, to identify ways in which tissue manufactures can manage blade wear more effectively. Results are based on a database of worn blades from industry, measured in a laboratory and matched with the corresponding process conditions under which they were used.
