FEL 3 – Preliminary Engineering of Successful Paper Machine Conversions, 2021 TAPPICon Live (21TAPL)

As noted in a previous paper, FEL1 and 2 – The Beginnings of Successful Paper Machine Conversions, paper machine conversion projects which alter the machines’ major product grades continue to be a prevailing trend in the paper industry.  Many of the projects implement the Front End Loading (FEL) project engineering process adapted from what other process industries have been utilizing for years.  This paper reviews the third FEL project phase (FEL3) of paper machine conversion projects which is often referred to as the preliminary engineering phase.   This effort is a continued, detailed focus on the beginning of paper machine conversion projects and builds on the first paper.
