In this paper we describe the application of artificial intelligence to prevent events of so called sheet breaks. In contrast to the usual approach, which gives a single overall break risk including a possible root cause, we use unsupervised categorization of event types to find a segmentation of sheet breaks into different classes. Furthermore, we describe how to create a warning system which gives a risk signal for each type and automatically triggers the appropriate countermeasures.
