Technical Advances in Web Inspection and Process Efficiency, 2021 TAPPICon Live (21TAPL)
Paper inspection systems are a powerful tool for improving paper quality and process efficiency. Typical inspection systems detect and classify defects. Images of defects are classified, stored, and displayed. Reel maps are provided for subsequent converting process improvement and monitoring.
The multi view camera is a substantial technical advancement that uses extremely high speed embedded line scan cameras, performing at up to 140 kHz line frequency and up to 16K pixel CD resolution. The multi view cameras output color and B/W enabling two views with a single camera. Various strategical angles of reflection, and/or in combination with transmission now realized from a single camera in B/W and color.
The next technical advancement is high speed switching LED lighting designed for multi view inspection with the multi view cameras. The lighting intensity can be optimized by product grade, diffused, focused, and collimated for a wide range of materials. The lighting is modular for any web width. Furthermore, LED lighting is available in white, UV, near IR, monochromatic, and RGB.
