APC Program Lifecycle – Guidelines for a successful application, TAPPICon22
Advanced Process Control (APC) technology has been around since the late ’70s. It was initially developed to
improve process stability where conventional regulatory control proved insufficient. It soon evolved to have a local
optimization layer based on the cost function of the process variables and plant constraints to establish an optimal
operation region, often near plant capacity. APC applications usually are implemented in a PC layer above
conventional regulatory control, yielding optimal setpoints in a cascade scheme.
TAPPI conference proceedings and presentations, technical papers, and publication articles provide technical and management data and solutions on topics covering the Pulp, Paper, Tissue, Corrugated Packaging, Flexible Packaging, Nanotechnology and Converting Industries.
