DATA ANALYTICS: ADVANCED ANALYTICS CAPABILITY FOR ASSESSING AND OPTIMIZING MULTI-STATE PRODUCTION PROCESSES, TAPPICon22
A common challenge: A typical production facility operates 100s of PID control loops and maintains an even larger quantity of production assets as the foundation of an automated production process. The associated plant historian stockpiles process, production, quality, and condition data, but methods for extracting information from the historian that’s actionable and relevant to performance can be challenging. Meanwhile, pressure consistently increases on everyone to improve production efficiency.
Production processes demonstrate variable levels of controller effectiveness when operated under different states of production. This paper reviews recent innovations in the monitoring of multi‐state process data, and it demonstrates how state‐based analytics equip practitioners with new and actionable insights that facilitate plant‐wide optimization. Included is a review of traditional control loop performance monitoring capabilities and case studies from single and multi‐site technology deployments.
