In 1929, Belgian surrealist René Magritte completed his most famous work, “Ceci n’est pas une pipe”—in English, “This is not a pipe.” The painting is a realistic representation of an elegantly curved brown pipe. Most viewers pause only a moment or two before realizing that of course it’s not a pipe; it’s a painting of a pipe. Yet the longer one contemplates the juxtaposition of image and text, the more interesting the painting becomes. It is in that spirit that I direct you to the cover of this issue and say:
