The Paper Excellence Group has announced a renewed business unit structure following the recent acquisitions of Resolute Forest Products in March 2023 and Domtar in November 2021. The leader of Pulp & Tissue Business will be announced at a later date.

Hygiene and health company Essity has completed the divestment of its operations in Russia for a purchase price of approximately SEK 1.2bn (US$177.7 million) on a cash and debt-free basis. Net sales in Russia corresponded to about two percent of company’s total consolidated net sales.

Cascades has announced that the second paper machine at its St. Helens, Oregon, tissue plant will be closed, resulting in the complete shutdown of the facility. The end of operations will be effective at the beginning of October. The decision follows the company’s previously announced repositioning of its tissue papers production platform to improve business performance, which included the closure of one of the two paper machines at the St. Helens plant. The announcement further simplifies the company’s operational platform by concentrating the majority of its tissue product operating activities at core, geographically well-positioned sites that offer opportunities for future development.
