SetPoint: Corr Competencies, Paper360º July/August 2023
Friends, I need to share this photo with you. It came to me in an email from Dan Goymerac, chair of the Lake States TAPPI (LST) local section and VP, business develop-ment for Miron Construction in Wisconsin. Dan writes: “I recently had the pleasure of joining a tour of the Green Bay Packaging liner and medium board mill in Green Bay, WI. This tour was a special one for me—not simply because I worked on this facility and was able to walk through and add comment about the facility after having spent over three years working on the design, development, and implementa-tion—but because of the group that I was so happy to accompany on the tour. This group of nine gentlemen, the Ol’ Timers, are all retired from the industry, and still get together every month to talk about the industry, meet with former coworkers and friends, and meet new people from different parts of the industry. In the big picture, these gentlemen are all still working to enhance the industry through LST fundraising and education for those starting their careers in the pulp, paper, and allied industries… each of them is a testament that the love of the industry obviously doesn’t leave you when you retire, it just changes how you ‘work.’ They each bring a wealth of knowledge from their own respective areas of expertise, and for me it’s always educational, enlightening, and fun to meet with them.”
