Domtar will indefinitely idle pulp and paper operations at its Espanola, Ontario, facility. The decision will curtail Domtar’s annual pulp production by about 280,000 ADMT of NBSK pulp and approximately 69,000 tons of specialty paper.

International Paper has opened its new corrugated packaging facility in Atglen, PA. The US$100 million facility provides more than 100 manufacturing jobs and will produce corrugated packaging for produce, processed food, beverage, shipping, distribution, and e-commerce.

Mercer International inaugurated the Mercer Lignin Center, located on the site of Mercer’s Rosenthal pulp mill in Germany. The Center is a fully integrated pilot plant with a maximum capacity of 1,000 kilograms of high-quality lignin per day on an area of 1,000 square meters.
