If all goes to plan, there will be a new giant heading the list of Paper360°’s Top 75 Manufacturers in a year. In September 2023, Smurfit Kappa and WestRock announced plans to merge under the name Smurfit WestRock with headquarters in Dublin. Tony Smurfit will be CEO. Based on 2022 numbers, WestRock had already claimed the Number 1 spot in combined PPCM revenue, displacing Procter & Gamble. Smurfit Kappa is Number 4 on this year’s list. Combined, the two totaled more than US$30 billion in sales.

This would outpace current No. 2 International Paper by about US$10 billion.
