In contact printing, the impression in a print nip plays an essential part of the resulting print quality. The impression is adjusted by closing the distance between the cylinders in the printing press. When altering the distance, both the contact length and the maximum pressure is altered. We wanted to isolate these two parameters to gauge how each influenced the print mottle.
