Process control - from wet end to finished product, TAPPICon24
It takes a lot to create and manufacture the optimal tissue paper product. The raw material, added chemicals and
other additives as well as the machine settings in the production and converting, all needs to be in the right
balance. Chemicals, added in the wet end have two main targets. Target number one is a smooth process, without
any machine stops and other disturbances; target number two is an optimal performance of the finished product.
Only with a well-monitored process these two targets can realistically be reached. Emtec’s Charge Analyzing
System (CAS) and Fiber Potential Analyzer (FPA) are the tools to use to be able to take decisions in the wet end;
both are lab devices, which measure particle charge and zeta potential. A good alternative to the lab device is the
Fiber Potential Analyzer Online (FPO), which measures the zeta potential online automatic. The Tissue Softness
Analyzer (TSA) on the other hand can be used to measure hand sheets, base tissue and finished products to see
how added chemicals, machine settings and others influence the quality of the final product. Our presentation will
discuss the mentioned possibilities to keep the wet and dry end of the tissue paper production under control, which
helps to manufacture the requested quality efficiently.
