Self-Aligning Cylindrical Roller (SACR) Bearings: The Non-Locating Bearing Concept, TAPPICon25
This paper considers the potential for utilizing cylindrical roller bearings in paper machine applications. It examines comparisons between a traditional spherical roller bearing verses a cylindrical roller bearing on press rolls and dryer cylinders. With the help of an actual case study, the paper shows the impact on shaft misalignment, thermal expansion and common lubrications issues when the bearings are interchanged. The results show the positive impact to operating speed, lubrication and friction reduction/energy consumption.
